While this is not my first exhibition, it has been a while since I mounted one from scratch.
The decision to get my work out there, along with a colleague and fellow artist, came as we accumulated interesting, good and not so brilliant works...something had to be done, some space had to be created - someone had to make an effort!
The decision: Let's hold an exhibition.
Let's proceed: Search for some gallery spaces... oh really - one should book a year ahead... but we are ready now!!
Reality: a lovely, affordable space was available in Balmain (NSW) in six months time for the weekend of 20,21 October, 2018.
The process: A deadline does wonders for one's concentrated efforts, the desire to create something better, to grow as an artist and to impress friends and wow the public is strong.
The space: We visited the space twice, once with tape measure in hand to measure up space and estimate where particular works would be placed. It seems clear while in the gallery but at home I wonder would this painting or that work we best there... we wont really know until the day comes to hang the works but I will still make a plan to save time on the day.
Dont forget: Labels , catalogues, payment gateways... I shall let you know how we manage....

Trying to spread the word about the exhibition - it seems direct word of mouth works best, but social media may reach more people - but can they attend?
The catalogue is 90% complete but needs more work.
